Testimony of William Ivory (CID)
I, Mary M. Ritchie, being a Notary Public in and for the State of North Carolina, was appointed to take the testimony of the following witness, William F. Ivory, before the Grand Jury, Raleigh, North Carolina commencing at 2:15 p.m. on January 14, 1975. All Grand Jurors present with the exception of Juror Samuel Cannady who was permanently excused from all subsequent Jury Duty by the Judge.
Whereupon,
WILLIAM F. IVORY, having been first duly sworn, was examined and testified as follows:
EXAMINATION BY MR. WOERHEIDE:
Q Will you state you full name, please?
A William F. Ivory.
Q Are you the same William F. Ivory who previously testified before this grand jury?
A Yes, sir, I am.
Q And at that time you testified that you were the CID agent in charge of the investigation that was commenced at the MacDonald residence at 544 Castle Drive on the morning of February 17, 1970.
A Yes, sir.
Q Now I have here in the room a box. Can you tell me whether this box contains certain physical evidence that you recovered at that time and place?
A Yes, sir, it does.
Q I'll do to it according to its location. You've brought in some photographs?
A Yes.
Q Let's go with the east bedroom, the master bedroom. You found a soiled pajama top on the body of Colette MacDonald?
A Yes, sir, I did.
Q And a bath mat?
A Yes, sir.
Q And she was clad in pink pajamas?
A Pink pajamas.
Q Are those three items located here?
A Yes, sir, they are.
Q Is this the pajama top?
A That's the blue pajama top. Yes, sir.
MR. WOERHEIDE: This is a plastic envelope, and it has attached to it a tag with some descriptive information. And the evidence log number on the tag is 60-70, and it's also marked Exhibit D-210. And I'm going to ask our reporter to put on the reverse side of the tag a notation. This is Ivory Exhibit #1 of this date.

Q (By Mr. Woerheide) I show you another plastic envelope, and it's marked on the tag under the evidence log number 63-70. Can you identify that as the bath mat?
A Yes, sir. I can.

Q (By Mr. Woerheide) The next plastic envelope or bag contains a pink garment, and the tag attached has evidence log number 59-70. Are those the pink pajamas that were on Colette's body?
A Yes, sir, they are.

MR. WOERHEIDE: I know you people have seen these pictures; but I'm going to ask Bill Ivory to show you a picture that has these last three items that were entered as evidence. That's Colette's body with the bath mat and the pajama top. All those three items are indicated in this picture and this is Squires #22.
Q (By Mr. Woerheide) Do you have a picture showing the sheet and the bedspread on the floor of that room?
A Yes, sir. I do.
Q Will you indicate where they are located?
A In the lower right-hand corner of the photograph.
Q Does this picture also show it?
A Yes, sir. It does. In about the center of the photograph.
Q Now, are these the sheet and pillowcases that you have before you at this time?
A The sheet and the bedspread.

A Yes, sir. I did.
Q And were these located on the bed of Kris MacDonald?
A Yes, sir. They were.
Q And which was the top sheet?
A The plain white sheet was the top sheet.
Q All right, and that has what sort of an identifying number on it here?
A 60-N-B.

Q (By Mr. Woerheide) Going back to the east bedroom, did you find a torn pocket from the pair of blue pajamas?
A Yes, sir, I did.
Q Did that have a lab number --
A D-232.
Q And that was given the lab number D-232. Is that right?
A Yes, sir.
MR. WOERHEIDE: We'll mark this as Ivory Exhibit #9 of this date.

MR. WOERHEIDE: Mr. Ivory is indicating on this picture to me -- and it is Squires Exhibit #18 -- at the feet of Colette MacDonald, you can see this little throw rug that is sort of turned over slightly or partly; and the pocket is lying there.
Here's Kris's bed. That is the lower sheet with the pink flowers on it. Here is the upper sheet which is white, and you can only see part of it. There's the green bedspread.
I made Mr. Ivory identify these things; because he recovered them. And our next couple of witnesses is from the lab, and they will testify about examinations they made of these other items.
